A Very Brief
Epilogue
Steed ascends to the Heavens
Tara climbs his umbrella!
Probably, most of the information coming
from the graphic and virtual media, will deny or disagree with my views.
Those who like collecting anecdotes, then go for them. As for me, they're
no more than smoke and fog, seeking to persuade us that in our responsibility
as viewers, the obvious, unquestionable truth, is the one that appears
on the screen.
I
believe the main point of the dilemma around Tara King and her presumed
liability in the sudden fall of The Avengers is, and will be, the same.
Was Linda Thorson freely chosen and hired to play a well conceived character,
which she was ultimately unable to deliver? Or is Tara King the best thing
that a middling production team could conceive for Linda Thorson? Personally,
I lean towards the latter. In the few opportunities where a skilled and
talented director managed to define her character better, Linda Thorson
proved ability to find in Tara King a female role not only worthy of an
Avenger girl, but substantially superior to that which the original creators
gave to her. Let's drink a toast to Tara!
